restorative retreats
for coaches who are wanting to hang out and see what emerges
A bunch of us got together…
‘‘…this idea of… of being connected, you know, and like we are stardust and so on, we are literally stardust.’
Irish Friend
We went to Ballycastle for many reasons, but mostly because we wanted to feel connected to other coaches.
Not connected organisationally. Not connected commercially. Not woven together in promoting some new programme, model or modality. Not even gathering around that most sacred coaching artefact of all – agenda.
We simply wanted to hang out together as friends.
And so we came from Geneva, Milan, Dublin, London, Oxford, Birmingham, Belfast and beyond to hang out and feel connected. Perhaps, as a British Friend reflected:
‘…(to) reach unity about something or other.’
Even if it’s only about discovering that twenty coaches could walk joyfully along a cliff together and ignore the driving rain.’
Catching Sparkles | Postcard 27
We host these retreats every so often - usually for around twenty people, including ourselves. Some people bring their partner; some don’t.
The main focus is on what coach supervisors call restoration: stepping away from the demands of our practice and simply being with people we enjoy being with. Everyone pays for their own board and travel costs and brings a few pounds for when we go down the pub.
Sometimes there’s dancing. Sometimes we walk along cliffs in the rain.
